Town of Greenfield Historical Society
PO Box 502, Greenfield Center, NY 12833
The Society is a private organization receiving its funds from member's dues, contributions and its members participating in moneymaking activities. It has been in existence since 1983 when a group of citizens organized for the purpose or researching, preserving and promoting local history.
The Society meets once a month between September and May; most of the meetings are held on the third Tuesday of the month. During warmer weather we meet at the IOOF Hall in Middle Grove, a building owned by the Society. During the winter, we meet at the Town Community Center (across from the Greenfield Post Office). Refreshments and a program follow business meetings, guests are always welcome.
The Society publishes a monthly newsletter (Sept- May) which is mailed to members. The newsletter contains many local history stories written by our members. Many of our members live outside the area, some in distant states, but all have an interest and ties to the Town of Greenfield. If you would like to receive a free copy of one of our newsletters, send your name and address along with a request to the address above.
Becoming a member is easy. We only require that you have an interest in history. Send $10.00 along with your name and address to the Town of Greenfield Historical Society, PO Box 502, Greenfield Center, NY 12833. Other types of membership (lifetime, corporate, etc.) are also available; please write for details.
